“Hard work” elicits different connotations depending on the context in which the phrase is used– why is that?
This is piece is made up of 5 diptychs– each comparing two different kinds of labor. It explores our preconcieved notions of what kinds of “hard work” we value higher than others, in regards to amount of effort, attention to detail, and dexterity. How would you describe the work of a seamstress/fashion designer and that of a construction worker? Are the characteristics and/or adjectives that come to mind different? If so, why?
